NOS Mallory

2 Attachment(s)
A couple of years ago I bought a Fordor that a gent started on and didn't finish.
As part of the deal there was a Mallory distributor. Pretty sure it was purchased right about 1972 and never used.
There is a swap meet here in Lincoln this weekend and since I'm not going to use it I'm planning on offering it for sale with some of my other bits and pieces.
Not sure what I should be asking for something like this. Any input would be appreciated.

Close to $400. Doesn't say Mallory in catalog description, so may not be a fair comparison to what you have.

Dual points? On a "A".

Gives lots and lots and lots of dwell.

Re: NOS Mallory

Let's not dwell on it too much! :D:D

A convenient place to carry a spare set

Dwell that's not needed.

Mike showed Brattons selling an FSI with a 40k volts flamethrower coil..the FSI is a forklift distributor with a pertronix electronic pickup, made in china. The mallory is an american made distributor, dual points yields maximum coil soak time, yielding full coil voltage output, good for a performance build along with someone who want to play with dual points..it looks unused,250 to 300 bucks at the swaps, let it go guaranteed to sell at 200 bucks.

Re: NOS Mallory

I bought two new Mallory dual point distributors in the 90s . The last one from Berts was only two hundred dollars at the time. These distributors have been completely trouble free after all these years . The only thing that I have needed to replace on these distributors was the condenser . Spark has been said to double with dual points . The Mallory distributors that I have , use red distributor caps . Performance is good .

Re: NOS Mallory

Dual points will give more dwell time, so perhaps a little more spark but not double. Dual points will extend point life too. Today's condensers are often problematic.

Great if you were building a HP model A engine...

I'm just repeating what I have read here . I haven't tried measuring the actual amount of spark if that is possible .. Dwell increases spark . The spark is good . Its not a major improvement but I figure that every little bit counts . I usually pass on what has been an improvement for me . Dual point distributors have been a performance part that has been offered for many years for better spark .

Both dwell and spark voltage can be measured.

Re: NOS Mallory

I had NO need to measure the spark . The spark is hotter and I'm happy with it .

Did you end up selling the Mallory ? I would be interested.
