Wood rimmed steering wheel Not currently working on a T, so please forgive me--
I am working on my 24 Olds Touring car which has (had?) a four spoked center and wood rim steering wheel. Since I've never seen another 24 Olds or met an owner I figured I'd give it a shot here! Two problems, one of the spokes is busted and there is no wood. The piece is there and I may try drilling and pinning it but it may need to be just used to make a mold and a new casting done. The wood part I figured I could make in the shop- but yesterday I did see that there are rims made/for sale. Anyone successful at making their own and if so, did you steam bend wood, cut it one piece from a large blank or assemble it from pieces and joint it? I watched Dad make one for one of his Pierce Arrows but it was a multi piece with thin finger joints-- Thanks in advance- Greg |

Re: Wood rimmed steering wheel Noah Stutzman in Baltic, Ohio makes wood steering wheel rims in addition to his lovely spokes and wheel rebuilding. Prices are good too. 330-897-1391, his phone is outside the shop on the fence, he checks messages often and will call you back. What this man tells you is true. Period.
