Floorboard - Shift Lever Plate Clips

I'm making new floorboards and trying to make them to the original specs. The plate clips which rotate to hold on the shift lever plate came with rivets and washers. I believe I read somewhere on FB that the rivet head goes on the bottom of the floorboard. My question is: does the washer go between the wood and the plate clip, with the upset end directly over the plate clips (to leave a gap for the shift lever plate) or does the washer go between the plate clip and the upset end of the rivet, with the plate clip directly against the floorboard?

I believe the head of the rivet goes on top of the plate clip, the washer goes on the bottom of the rivet, and the rivet upset on the bottom. If I am incorrect someone will put up a post to correct my post.

Thank you for the picture. This confirms that the rivet head is on the bottom. There also doesn't appear to be a washer between the clip and the upset end of the rivet. I don't think they would use a washer under the rivet head (head diameter is large), so either it was not used, or it is between the clip and the floorboard. If you just took this picture, is there anyway you can check, or at least look for a space between the sheet metal clip and the floorboard that would show a washer is under there?

I agree the rivet head goes on the bottom. There is no washer involved. I have a couple original floorboards and that is the way they are - like Iverson's picture.

I just looked at ours like Rusty says no washers used at all on top and from what I can tell by feel underneath no washer but a large head on rivet

Russ,

If you are not concerned with Fine Point Judging, do yourself a favor and put a small flat washer between the wood and the plate clip on all those clips. This way they will swivel much easier and still be tight on the plates, but won't have as much tension to bend the clip.
