A 1989 T5 should be NWC. What are you contemplating doing? Mucho interested!! DD Your gear ratios: 1352-193 GM 1989 S-Truck 2.5L L4 Only 3.76 4.03 2.37 1.49 1.00 0.86 |
Re: Gm t5 transmission That is what I thought

WHAT are you thinking about doing with a T5, if you don't mind me asking? DD . |
Re: Gm t5 transmission I thought for a hot rod I'm working on but not strong enough for that and he wants 250.00 for it I was hoping it was a wc one but they are hard to find around here anymore

Re: Gm t5 transmission This page is useful for ID'ing T5's: http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/Bo...T5-ID-Tags.htm
It confirms yours is not WC. |
Re: Gm t5 transmission Yes I found that page

ROSS .....What did I miss? Using that British "Numbers ID" site, I'm curious how you determined that his trans is "NWC" (Non World Class)? DD |
Re: Gm t5 transmission I have sold 100's of rebuilt 85-92 S10 2 wheel drive transmissions to go behind a Flathead with no problems.

I must agree....there is not a thing wrong with a NWC T5. In fact, I advocate using NWC "V8" Camaro T5s for the GEAR RATIOs that they use, much nicer than that 3.76 or 4.03 ist gear that comes in the S-10 boxes. IN FACT, those ridiculous 1st gear ratios are most of the reason for lower torque ratings. I was just curious how ROSS derived NWC from that British spec sheet. DD . |
Re: Gm t5 transmission It's to old to be a would class out of a s10

Re: Gm t5 transmission It's not going behind a flathead

Re: Gm t5 transmission Quote:
For the S-10 rear housing AND the SHORT-SHAFT lid, that's almost a steal anymore. The "S-10" REAR housings are beginning to get scarce. Plus, they will both bolt-on to ANY T5 transmission main case. Click the link BELOW! DD https://www.ebay.com/itm/17189132278...gAAOSwHnFVy5gO . |
Re: Gm t5 transmission Coopman, the “Vehicle Application” line on the ID page has “WC” noted for world class transmissions. Any without WC in the description are thereby assumed non world class. I believe that how Ross determined it was Non-WC.

Re: Gm t5 transmission Way I see it 1993 s10 when they started the wc transmission

Hey "BURGLAR".....Of the many hundreds of times that I have looked at that site, I can't believe that I never noticed all of those "WC" notes. Damn, I can't understand how I missed that! Thank you for setting me straight! DD . |
Re: Gm t5 transmission 1 Attachment(s)
There was a dude on the hamb with the same handle 12 yrs ago. Same? Great name.

Re: Gm t5 transmission Tinker, I am on the H.A.M.B. as well. Same name. There may be another burglar with a slight spelling difference. Not sure. I tend to lurk more than post, so might well have been someone else. Momma always said it was better to keep your mouth shut and look stupid…….
