12v fuel pump

Do any of you have a recommendation on where to find a good 12v external tank fuel pump? I understand that originally I should have between 3.5 to 4.5 psi to the carb. Most aftermarket fuel pumps are rated around 12 psi or greater. I have also thought of a pressure reducer before the carb. I’m running the original Ford 2 barrel carburetor on my 239 flathead. Thanks for the advise.

Re: 12v fuel pump

There are many 12V fuel pumps on the market.
I use Aeromotive race type with a bypass type regulator and a return line to the tank. I have a rear mounted 16 gallon foam filled fuel cell for a tank.
The common dead head type regulators are worthless. They will not hold set pressure at full demand.
Your carb will run like new with 2 to 3 lb.

Mr. Gasket part 42S puts out 2.5 to 3.0 psi on 12V. Mine has worked fine for five years. It allows pull through if you also have a mechanical pump and electric pump is off.

I buy universal fit fuel pumps at auto zone, $30 more or less. In 20 yrs of using them I had 1 go bad. also use a fuel reg. to keep PSI in 2-3 lb range.
