Bob Drake '42-'48 bumper quality?

Curious if anyone has experience with and would care to share any comments or opinions with the quality the Bob's '42-'48 bumpers and maybe more importantly the chrome.

Deciding whether to buy a bumper or have mine plated at either the local economical place or the better place up north.

Drake does show they are in stock; but I looked to Summit for lesser shipping cost.

Summit says they have some in stock; but while they show both center hole spacings in the spec's, they don't have a path to specify it in the order process.

Drake doesn't either on their new "improved" web sight; while they did on the old one.

I'm sure they will say the chrome and fit is the finest quality; but I have seen other repop bumpers and the quality ranges from great to "you call that chrome".

If the bumpers are in good condition, replating may be the choice. When my '47 was rear ended, I couldn't find usable guards or bumper face bars. I don't recall the place i used, but it was in Mexico. USA regulations have driven many custom platers out if the country.
In any case, replating is expensive, but necessary for anything close to show quality.
