Can Anyone ID This Head?

2 Attachment(s)
I just picked up a 1931 Tudor. Discovered the motor is Canadian, 1929. Had this head on it that looks a little different than I'm used to seeing. Those square raised areas between the head nuts don't ring any bells with what I've seen before. I don't have a pic of the combustion chambers but they look to be standard. Any thoughts on the origins of this head?

I suspect it a "stock" replacement head not made by Ford.

Most of the aftermarket high compressions heads had the manufacturers name on them.

Are there any markings on top in front of the water outlet?

No markings around the water outlet, just the ones in the middle of the head.

Ford of Canada usually have C prefix parts and made in Canada on them somewhere. The Windsor plant across the river was the only other plant to build their own engines and use there own "CA or CAA" engine serial number prefixes.

Does the title and engine reflect the Canadian Ford serial number or was the engine a replacement?

The car appears to be a US built 1931 Tudor (indented firewall), with CA prefix replacement engine. I don't know much about the history of this car. It appears to have been repainted at some point many years ago and interior redone. Aside from the engine being replaced it does not appear that any significant work was done to the chassis or drivetrain. The title has a VIN that is not consistent with Ford engine serial numbers.

It looks like there are 3 of the little rectangular blocks with the small tits. This would be handy for setting up the head in a mill for surfacing it. I am guessing that is what they were for, but it is only a guess.
