Windshield Frame Press-In Nut Do any of you have any experience with installing a "windshield frame press-in nut" (Bratton's part #30100)? I've got a 30 Std Cpe with a recently painted frame and it is in excellent condition with the exception one of the press-in nuts is missing in one of the brackets. The bracket is also in excellent condition, just needs the nut installed. The knurled side of the nut is much too large to fit the bracket's existing opening and I could grind it down and use JB to help hold it or enlarge the hold in the bracket. Could also buy a new bracket (#30092) with the nut installed, but as I said, the frame has recently been painted. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Windshield Frame Press-In Nut I would drill the hole in the bracket to the proper size and then use a bolt or the screw that attaches to the swing arm to pull the press in nut into the bracket.

Re: Windshield Frame Press-In Nut I could never get them to seat right. After 80+ years the hole was worn. I couldn't figure out a way to tighten the hole so the press-in nut would hold tight. That thing is fighting lateral forces.
If I had to do it over again, I could go around the hole with a punch to tighten it in before pressing in the nut. Good luck, Ken |

Re: Windshield Frame Press-In Nut We had the same problem recently on my grandson's 1930 Tudor. One of the press in nuts was missing on the windshield stanchion. We went to a local Model A store and bought the needed item. However, no way did it fit. What we did was enlarge the hole and file a "D" in it so that the nut slipped in. Then we liberally applied JB weld to the nut and the hole and let it sit over night and it worked fine.
