Tudor-What am I missing?
 

What is with my Tudor? How do you get in the back seat? The drivers seat swings forward only to hit the steering wheel and the right side swings forward only to hit the hand brake. Do I climb thru the back window?:confused:

I don't understand...If you have a LHD vehicle...How the heck can the right seat, when it "swings forward" hit the hand brake?

On the other hand, if you have a RHD vehicle, How the heck can the left seat "drivers" hit the steering wheel?

Am I not seeing something here?

Granted it's a tight fit to get into the back seat, but my Tudor's passenger seat doesn't hit the brake when folded and flipped forward. Could yours be mounted too far forward?

Premise,...

The hand brake is to the right of the shifter..?
If it has the extended arms on the bottom of the seat ,...for tall drivers?
Does the seat back fold?..I haven't sat it a Tudor in ages, and can't
remember.

The passenger seat back should fold forward and then the whole seat lift forward so that the seat part is vertical. It should not hit the brake handle.

Yes, the passenger seat will hit the parking brake lever when tilted forward if the brake is applied. You need to release the hand brake in order to tilt the passenger seat forward. And the driver's seat will hit the steering wheel, but can be squished by. At least that true with my 1930 tudor.

Again, my 31 Tudor passenger seat does NOT hit the handbrake lever when folded / tilted forward while the brake is applied. I can't imagine anyone thinking that releasing the hand brake to access the back seat is normal. Something seems amiss if it does.

With the emergency lever on (Activated), my passenger seat folds forward and up and hits the dash. People then climb into my 1931 Tudor's back seat.

My car is not modified.

I agree with Tudortomnz... Had a 31 Tudor since 1964 and never had this problem. Yes, time to lie down and rest for awhile, OR since it is hot, HAVE A BEER...

If, when you fold the passenger seat forward, when it hits the E brake, just fold it a bit more, and it should fold nicely down. If your Ebrake leaver is coming too far back, you should adjust the lever. If you shut off the engine, put the shift in reverse, and move the E break all the way forward, you should be able to easily enter and exit with ease.

I started this, sorry. It seems kind of useless to have the drivers seat fold forward when the steering wheel stops it. I can fold the seat back down but that is it. I have the seats out for upholstery work. Thanks for your comments without calling me a twit! Tim

Tim, I am surprised more folks did not answer this one correctly --or at least more to the point. The biggest reason why all of this is an issue is the seat covers are incorrectly installed. Most upholstery suppliers incorrectly sew the fabric, then most covers are incorrectly installed where the seat does not properly fold flat. Look at the following pictures from Marco, Gary Karr, Tom and others that show how the original seats were covered. Note how the seat cushion is vertical and the backrest is almost laying completely flat against the cushion. When the bottom section is standing vertical, there should be plenty of room to access the rear compartment.
