Identifying a Ford generator Is there a part number with the pre-fix for the years somewhere on the generator ? Thank you.

Re: Identifying a Ford generator Post more pictures of the generator and we should be able to identify what year, or years it is correct for. Also possible it is assembled from multiple other generators, I have done that a couple times myself.

Re: Identifying a Ford generator No part number on the body. However, there's a code stamped in the body. that code will tell you what year and month the body was manufactured.
From the photo you'd posted, that's a late '40 pulley and a '40 front bracket. Both should have a part number in them. The body could be from a number of years. More often than not, it seems these old units have been mismatched with parts from various years. How many terminals total? |
Re: Identifying a Ford generator its hard to argue with Kube, but i have never found an assembly number on the main case. part numbers on the ends, and maybe the pulley, but nothing on the case. i have better luck looking at the pics in the green book, and mainly look at the design of the front cover, then of coarse 2 brush or 3. vanpelt may have the photos too

Re: Identifying a Ford generator 1 Attachment(s)
Here's a number/alphabet code from a generator. Partially under a cut-out so earlier than 1940 and I used to have a link with a date code but can't find it now. The letter indicated the year, the number indicated the month. Think "T" stood for 1940, "S" for 1939, but need some help. Don't know when it started or ended. Hope I'm not mucking up the waters too much.

Re: Identifying a Ford generator Close Gary, very close.
1939 is "T". !940 is "U". |
Re: Identifying a Ford generator Thanks Mike. Wish I had that list but I know someone else will post it. But when did that start and when did it go till?
|
Re: Identifying a Ford generator I believe the date code was even used for the Model A and carried over through 32 and post war. Ford identified their production from aftermarket since they would only accept original Ford generators as cores for rebuilding.
