Square nuts for the tail lamp

Does anyone have a photo of the original square nuts that hold the tail lamp stand (bracket)to the rear fender? From what I have found they are supposed to be carriage bolt nuts. What would be different from regular square nuts? Check part number A 21664 carriage nut in Mick Isbel's book. Thanks , Norm

Re: Square nuts for the tail lamp

The Ford parts book shows 34095-S2 1/4"-20 (3/16"x1/2") square nut if I'm
reading it right.

Norm, it is the thickness, -and one side will have the corners slightly relieved.

Something like this I'm hoping is correct, as this is what I am restoring for my show car.

Here is a photo of the ones on Dave Lopes' very low mileage original 1929.

Thanks everyone for the information. I had the type shown in the photos but the wrong finish. I was marked down for reproduction nuts. I was wondering if the flat nuts were correct but your help will keep me on track. Thanks again , Norm
