Drag link 1945 1/2 ton pickup I need to replace/repair the drag link on my 45 1/2 ton, the fixed ball end is loose. I've done a search here and looked at many posts and it appears there is no good solution. Some seem to suggest that a kit from Speedway was the answer but, all the kits I saw were for a straight tie rod or drag link, mine has a step or bend so, it appears to me, a straight one would have the ball setting at an acute angle. Am I missing something or am I just not seeing the correct solution?

Re: Drag link 1945 1/2 ton pickup I bought one for my 46 half ton ,21A3306 ,I think it was from midwest ford, mine is a cross steer, the 40 looks almost the same but is a little shorter and will allow the gear to not be centered and cause slack in the steering from not being in the correct spot of the worm gear.

Re: Drag link 1945 1/2 ton pickup I just looked up the number 21A 3306 and it shows to be a passenger car, the comm. part number is 21C3306, mabe someone will clarify this for us, the length of my link is 30 1/2 inches center of ball to the end of the rod and 31 inches overall outside without the sleeve and tie rod end installed.

Re: Drag link 1945 1/2 ton pickup My 46 has a home-made one, two chunks of rod welded together with a tie rod end on both ends. This problem must be why.
