Power At Rear Wheels Does anyone have the rear wheel power of a Model "A" from a dynamometer test?
Also, does anyone have engine dynamometer test results of power at the flywheel? |
Re: Power At Rear Wheels There are crankshaft hp/torque tables for a stock Model A engine and engines with different mods at https://www.modelaparts.net/dynoshee...ynosheets.html

Re: Power At Rear Wheels Still looking for rear wheel power dyno test.

Re: Power At Rear Wheels I don't have one for a stock engine but years ago I dynoed my pickup with a mild 2-port Riley. It put 60 HP to the wheels. It was an electric dyno, so I could power the vehicle using the dyno's motor. It took 25 HP to turn the trans and rear end, so about 85 HP at the flywheel.

Re: Power At Rear Wheels Wow! A 25HP parasitic loss in the drive-line seems to be extraordinarily high, and would be terrible if the engine was stock.

Re: Power At Rear Wheels Please tell, what are you gathering these statistics for ?
|
Re: Power At Rear Wheels Like Jim, I ran 60HP at the rear wheels on a chassis dyno at the Speedster Reunion in Lincoln.

Re: Power At Rear Wheels McMimmcs, I am the Technical VP in my local "A" club, and I give slide presentations at every club meeting. I concentrate on info not previously published, so I collect data and stats wherever I find stuff that passes my engineering giggle test. If you would like to see some of my presentations, look here

This is very techie but if you read between the lines you can see where Jim's hp losses are generated from flywheel to road wheels. Sliding gear teeth design even has a factor, spur cut A transmission gears have a higher loss than later helical cut gears.. even oil has a friction element to it. |
