Question for "B" Carb expert 2 Attachment(s)
The below are taken of a "B" carb. I am trying to determine the purpose and nature of the small brass object seen both in the venturi shot and the external shot. Is this part of the idle circuit? both ends of the same object are shown, and I am trying to determine if there should be a patent connection. I have not been able to get any fluids to pass through.

Re: Question for "B" Carb expert I don’t know it’s purpose, but on my carb, it’s a brass plug. On second look,I notice it’s lined up with the idle port, so I’m guessing it was an access hole to get to the idle port during manufacturing, then plugged.

Re: Question for "B" Carb expert This IS the idle port. Some B & C carbs have a hole in the front center of the throat like an A carb. Others have this brass "plug" with a slot in it. The slot goes half way through the brass plug where there is a hole that matches the gas port that comes up through the idle passageway. If the carb has been bead blasted, it has possibly clogged the slot and/or the hole passage or it is otherwise clogged from years of rust and debris. There is a passage plug
in the top flange that, like those pesky plugs on an A carb, when drilled out, will give access to clean the passage hole. If, however, the slot is clogged, there may be no way to clean it without removing the slotted plug. It is accessed on the engine side of the front of the carb throat and can be removed by carefully pushing through to the inside of the throat with a soft punch. Good luck. Re: Question for "B" Carb expert Bob, thanks for the education. Is the small hole to the left of the slotted plug also part of the idle circuit?

The text that Gary posted is from a book titled: Restoring The Model "A" and "B" Carburetors - The "Rex" Reheis Way page B-2

Re: Question for "B" Carb expert Russ, Been awhile since I did my last B carb. I'd have to go back and look at what the other hole is for. Quickly, I'd say it's an air bleeder but, I need a closer look to remember where it leads.

Re: Question for "B" Carb expert I believe the other hole is the outlet for the power jet circuit.
