28_29 Model A folding stanchions

Would like to know if there is a good reproducer for the folding 28_29 Model A Roadster windshield stanchions?

Thanks for you help and a happy and sound New Year 2021 to all.

-not that I have ever found, the members are likely to tell you to look at swap meets for old contemporary ones. on some old originals, you had to reduce the thickness of the cowl post by sawing the body metal of the pillar where it is wrapped around the post.

The Murray Fahnestock Ford Accessories book shows a number of these made at the time.

Hasn't someone said here that some roadsters produced in or for foreign markets did in fact come with folding stanchions?

1929 Canadian Sport Roadster had folding windshield stanchions.
See page F-28 of the Judging Standards.

interesting. I used to hear years ago, for unstated reasons, that it was very difficult tp get cars or even parts out of Canada to the US...was that true?

at the time I was hearing that parts of Canada were swimming in Model "A" stuff, with no way to retrieve any of it.....

I do not know how well these will show up but attached are some pictures of my 28 roadster taken in 1965. It has original folding stanchions. The A came from an area in Washington near the south east corner not far from the Idaho line. I have not heard of a US made roadster with folding stanchions, however Canada had what was known as a sport roadster that did have folding stanchions. This could have been a sport roadster from Canada as where it was found was may be 150 miles south of the US/Canada line. The stanchions were solid brass with nickel plating. At the 2015 MARC National Meet at Niagara Falls there was a Sport Roadster with folding stanchions, and as I recall they were the same as those I have pictured here.

didn't someone post a photo on here some years ago of a general Canadian auto exposition from like 1929 and there was a Ford roadster sitting there with the folding stanchions?

The last repro ones were terminated in the early eighties. I think I got the last ones.
Sorry about that.

The photo you are referring to, was of an exposition in 1929 in San Francisco. Here are some photos from the Canadian archives of Canadian Sport Roadster

I realize this topic is not exactly a barn burner to most members, but I am intrigued by things like, where did those Canadian stanchions come from, were they listed in company parts catalogs in Canada, could US Ford dealers purchase them somehow or did they have to drive to Windsor to get one, etc.

We are all aware that the Company was parts-quality conscious, these parts were probably top-shelf.

There's a guy on the HAMB that has advertised chopped w/s posts. You might check with him, he might know where some stock height post could be found.
