lock work on 40 ford

Recently had key/lock problems on my newly purchased 40 Standard Tudor. Had to hold mouth just so and tilt key while jiggling to operate ignition, and still would not work in the door. Trunk lock cylinder was drilled out and key would not work in glove box.
Found FlatHeadCoupe on this site and he was able to code cut new keys and replace the missing parts in trunk handle locking mechanism and match locks so that I now have a set of properly working keys that are matched to their separate locks as originally when new at a very reasonable cost. I now have 2 keys that work perfectly. THANKS John.

FHC to the rescue. GREAT! It's wonderful that there are folks who have the skills of the old locksmiths. Hope you made some spare keys.

I have different keys for ignition, glove box, trunk, left door and right door. It is a safety system so when dementia sets in I will not be able to operate the vehicle.

In the mean time I usually leave the doors unlocked and the key in the ignition. Like, anyone stupid enough to steal the most identifiable car in town surely would not be able to figure out how to start the car, much less drive it. The only thing I ever lock is the trunk, to protect my tools and spare parts.

I'll add my experience with FlatHeadCoupe to this thread: After having a local locksmith sit on my job for 5 mos. I sent all the locks (including a Drake repro. trunk handle) to John. He had them fixed up and back to me in a week at a very reasonable price. Nice to deal with someone like this in this day and age...

Thanks John!
