32 ford f-1 type cpp power steering

Curious if anyone has used the cpp 400 series side steering box ? most interested in an application to fit the confines of a 32 frame rail, it appears the mounting flange has been bolt on engineered for various applications .

I used one of there kits on my 50 F-1, It was engineered for the 53 to 56 F-1,
but I used it by relocating the box by opening up the hole in the frame and
filling in where needed. I t worked perfect.

Don't know about a kit for your application, can only say mine was great,
and that CPP is a quality outfit.:)

Then you'd hafta convert to 12 volts. I have too much invested in Optima's and related chargers/maintainers.

Thanks OL Ron, Always receptive to idea's even if beyond my mind set, although they are probably available plug & play are they not ? Have a vega box in my sport coupe & see a power assist box is now available, currently putting an F-1 box in my roundy/round & a 32 pickup also needing an upgrade, far too many projects. I believe the power assist (Borgeson) has the splined output but uncertain if specific to their pitman arm or the same as a 32/F-1 etc. I'm hoping Neal will chime in, as I read in one of his postings on the Hamb that a friend had used the non assist cpp & was well satisfied.

I found an old Chevy pick up box laying in the dirt.
I picked it up and was surprized that it not only turned but was smooth as glass with to slop at all. Perfectly tight.
Chevy used the same side steer box from 37 to 59 when they went cross steer. The same type internals were used in GM vehicles untill the R&P boxes.
They are recirculating ball design like a Vega or 60 Chevy or a 76 Corvette.
They look just like a F100 box to me.
I have a Vega in my 32 roadster and can steer it with one finger.
The pictures are of a 55-57 box
Just a thought.

I used the CCP kit in my flathead 53 f-100,works great, you might be better with one of Mels steering boxes, the 32 is A light car , Mel takes 53/56 f-100 boxes and converts them for model A, if you have A flathead in your 32 ,the power steering pump mounts will be A big problem.

I have one of Mel's (Randy Gross) F-100 steering box conversion's in my
30 Model A Town Car. Work's great, easy steering, great quality workmanship.

Re: 32 ford f-1 type cpp power steering

Currently replacing my 32 roundy/round steering box with an unmodified F-1, have it clamped in place using a f-100 wedge to align it with respect to converting from a ladder frame mount to the 32 angle frame while keeping in mind headers, clutch, brake, seating position etc. I know the traditional method is to cut/& machine the flange & must admit was a bit surprised with the unavailability of a F-1 wedge. Since the frame rail had seen several box changes for whatever reason through the years maintaining the the original mounting holes were of little concern. As mentioned early on I had most recently come across the CPP ad for the power steering box of which has been designed closely to the configuration of the manual box & felt it might be of at least passing interest.
