A/B engine build info./technuque Q

I'm sure some of you guys know of Schwalms (Ora) in Skokie Illinois.
I havent talked to Ora or Mrs for very long time.
Anyone can say whether Schwalms does inserts (vs Babbitt) in their A/B rebuilds these days ?

Seems that inserts are THE way to rebuild, but guess you can get either ?

The Skokie company you mentioned is not Schwalms. It is AER (antique engine restoration). Schwalms is in
Strasberg, PA. Both companies do excellent work.

Thanks for corrective information. Conflation of the two / things is common these days. I'll call Ora directly for my answers.

Nothing wrong with babbitt, the last engine I built for my Riley was done with all babbitt. It even has some advantages over inserts.

Hey Jim B,
I believe your vote and advice for all Babbitt.
I have an old racer friend. He is a bit older than you. Years ago, he sent a B blk, out of a ‘32 pickup to Ora for rebuild.

He is downsizing now. Wants me to be custodian of the B. Never fired off. I’m wondering if Ora did shells or full Babbitt.
You have ALWAYS given me great advice, but I prefer inserts.

Hope Ora and Mrs are ok ! No answer phone.
