Bogus scammers
 

I'm using the word bogus again because it was sooo successful last time.

If any of you want to hear about the scam that was just attempted on me and my wife to buy my model A, let me know.

It's going to take a lot of typing and I'm not going to be able to use expletives so it's going to take a bunch of time and work. If you can convivce me that it is worth all that work so you can read about this scam, I’ll do it.

Not wanting to appear insensitive Wingski but these scamming @holes are all the same, just their technique varies. It's enough to know they tried it on and you didn't get caught. Well done on that.;)

Seems I get a call a day, "Something wrong you computa." I just hang up. Been there, done that. Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on me.

"Bogus scammers"? So, they are fake scammers, as opposed to real scammers? :p

We often get the call from "Microsoft" informing us of problems with our computer. When they say Windows isn't working, I just tell them that its the middle of Winter, and it's too dang cold to open them!

I have no probs with advertising and selling stuff on the net.

Do get a lot of timewasters who say they are coming and don't .

The nigerian/oil workers/husband died of cancer stuff ended abruptly years ago when I sent just this one person an explicit email......with an explicit pic

I wonder if it is like the charities who ring you.....

You give to one and they then sell your ph number/name on .

Once you tell one to F##K off, they all stop ......

The first thing you have to realize is that all scammers are game players. They think they are smarter than you are and can beat you at whatever game they are playing. The winner’s prize being money. Your money.

A scam doesn’t usually appear to be a scam in the beginning. It appears to be a legitimate response to an ad for something you are selling. It isn’t until somewhere down the line that something appears feels fishy, and you start to wonder.

Scammers are sociopaths who love to lie. The more lies they are able to suck you into the better the game is for them, and the worse it is for you.

It’s almost impossible to sense a scam from the very beginning because these people (?) come across so enthusiastically. They make you believe that what you have to sell is something that they just have to acquire. Bull, they couldn’t care less for it other than to get something for free, or at least for as little work as possible.

The reason why scams are so bad is that your sub-conscious is screaming like mad to get you to realize something ain’t right, and you’re ignoring it because you’ve started something and want to finish it. Greed may have a little bit to do with all this as well, but mainly you’ve made up your mind to do something after probably many agonizing hours of thought. Once that decision was made and you placed that ad, you immediately became prey.

The main thing about a scam is that while it is being conducted, it is unbelievably tiring. It drains you. It makes you wonder why you ever decided to sell your car. It is almost always going to leave you with a big question. Was this whole thing really a scam or did I over-react to a legitimate buyer? The only way of knowing for sure is to be scammed, and I know no one wants that except for the scammers.

I’m sure that most of you know the main warning signs of a scam. Offering more money than you asked, willing to pay for everything like shipping and all extra expenses without being asked. Well, here are a few more: not actually wanting to talk on the phone but strictly by email, changing their tune, for instance wire payment ending up being a personal check, and one of the biggest is trying to make you feel like a fool for not agreeing to something ridiculous.

Don’t let scammers succeed. These people (?) are the dregs of society and are trying to bring everyone else down to their level. Just say, “No, I’m not interested.”

Sorry you are just now learning about this type of scams. These have been going on for many many years, right up there with horse traders and other scams that have been around for almost as long as man has lived in towns.

I’m sorry you almost got “pulled down the rabbit hole” , but hey, YOU climbed out before you were stuck! Not everyone gets out of it before it’s to late. Takes a strong man to admit to others the predicament he got into (or almost into) so as to warn others.
Live and learn, thieves and hooligans aren’t worth the powder to blow them to kingdom come.

The call I got that was the most blatantly abusive of my credulity was the guy who was collecting for the Leprosy fund. "We must end this terrible disease now!" If ever there was an "Orphan disease" It is Leprosy in today's world! Leprosy,(Johanson's disease) hasn't been a serious problem for more than a century. I hung up on him laughing!

Scams and telephone salesmen have a lot in common. You have to make it obvious from the start you have twigged what they are after.

I have found the perfect way to stop sales calls.... For example window replacement sales people.

Agree immediately that you want all your 65 windows replaced in your house. One thing... the work has to be completed by the week-end as you are due in court for bankruptcy on Monday.

The call is terminated their end and you don't get anymore sales calls!"

I've had a rash of calls, asking for Pat & tryin' to sell Solar Panels.----"Pat was my Wife, that past away, 10 years ago"----"Clunk"!
I STILL get JUNK Mail, tryin' to sell her Life Insurance & Hearing Aids & Medi-Care Supplement Policies. Same stuff for my Son, Gregg (RIP), who passed away 5 Years ago. They even say he is "PRE-APPROVED" for a HIGH DOLLAR Credit Card. He never-never qualified for ANYBODYS' Credit Card. He spent his Money, like a CHILD & was always BROKE!
