Fuel line connectors- AN/JIC to IFF Questions
 

In following up my possible fuel line and/or fuel pump issues, I've been trying to simplify my current fuel line connections. I have a solid 1/4" - 45 degree flared line coming from the gas tank which has a 7/16-24 male connector. That needs to connect to the flex line going to the fuel pump which has a female JIC 1/2-20 connector with a 37 degree flare. Right now both the JIC and the IFF fittings are adapted to NPT and then connected with an NPT connector. I've been searching with no luck to this point to find a simplified connection. Do any of you know a better way to connect this 7/16" IFF male to the 1/2-20 JIC female? Or is there someone you might know of who builds customized fuel lines?
I'm attaching a photo of what I currently have. I don't consider it particularly good looking.

Bob,
Why not cut the flare off the end of the tubing, remove the flare nut then slip on a Ford nut ( Edelmann 108400 ) and a 1/4" ferrule and connect your flex line to it....
the way Ford did ?

I just looked at your pump....next up tomorrow....it is the rare factory installed
design 1/2 20 inlet and outlet identical machining. Inlet accepts the male end of the flex line and seals on the angle. The outlet takes the 1/4" hard line and seals with a 1/4 ferrule and Ford nut.

I really appreciate both solutions. I was not clear on how Ford originally handled the connections. That is likely the way I will go. Thanks to both of you.

Yeah, you're trying to reinvent the wheel. Use a ford nut and ferrule same as you use going into the carb.

Same everything...same Ford nut and ferrule used for Ford carbs and Strombergs....

Although I'm sure that works, interesting that Ford would use what is essentially a 45 degree ferrule as an interface between an SAE flare seat and a 37-degree seat.
I've seen people bubble flare (35-degrees) the steel tubing and then use that Edelmann fitting to connect to a JIC (37-degree) seat.

I'm looking for the simplest and most correct solution, and I seem to have it with the Edelmann nut and ferrule on the hard line from the tank to the flex line going to the pump.
Thank you everyone for setting me straight. And as Charlie said, my hard line from the pump to the carb already has Edelmann nuts and ferrules on both ends. I took it apart to check. I've looked at it in the past, but I guess it got recorded incorrectly in my memory.

OOP's Don't want to change the topic, but,

Looks like my top oiler needs some MMO. 230 miles and used about 8 oz.
I love it.
That only gets into the intake/valves. I also put some in the gas to get it thru the carb.

Thanks everyone. I had Charlie rebuild my original (factory installed) fuel pump and just installed that along with simplifying the fuel line connection by cutting the hard line from the pump and installing an Edelman Ford nut and ferrule. I squirted a little gas down the throat of the carb, and the truck pretty much started right up and ran without any leaks or problems. Time will tell, but this looks a whole lot better than what I had been experiencing previously regarding starting.
