Registration Fee$$$ The government is amazing, 1 year registration renewal is $53. $53 for a paper sticker to put on my 1929 windshield. Guess I cant complain, I just noticed that my regular vehicle is a 2 year renewal at $120.50 for a paper sticker.

It must have been some time when you registered a collector vehicle in Wisconsin, times have changed and fees are higher. For a Collector plate, it now costs twice the regular registration fee for that vehicle on a regular plate, plus a one time fee of $50. For example, regular registration is $75, x 2 = $150, plus $50 fee = $200. Any additional collector vehicle is $150 to the same person. The plates are one time fee. Glad ours were issued Collector plates years ago when they were much less expensive. Our plate number is in the 1400 range. $5 ? Re: Registration Fee$$$ We pay the same price for antique plates as for passenger plates, but get a nice break on town property tax if we use the antique plate. The money grabbers in Hartford are always trying to kill that, but so far we have prevailed.

Re: Registration Fee$$$ "Horseless Carriage" plates in Colorado cover any car or light truck at least 50 years old. They are good for 5 years at a cost of $15.49 They stay with the car when sold, but the new owner must transfer the plates and pay a fee for $9.49 to $15.49 depending on when the 5 year renewal is up. The restrictions limit a total of 4000 miles a year, driving to parades, shows, club meetings, educational events, trips for maintenance, etc. Of course, my insurance policy also has those limitations as well. One has to remember, that license fee isn't just for the "paper sticker", it also helps maintain the roads and bridges. As crappy as most roads are here in Colorado, the $15.49 fee should apply to all cars!

Re: Registration Fee$$$ Illinois is kind to Antique Car owners, no excessive fees AV plates are 5 year plates at $25. Any car 25 years old or older.
EA plates are a bit more if you want to drive all the time but still cheap. Heck, a Big Mac value meal costs that. No complaints here. Jesse White, Sec. of State, is an old car buff from what I've heard a nice guy. |

Re: Registration Fee$$$ In Iowa, regular plates are $10 per year for my '29 Tudor and $16 for my '29 Coupe. A real bargain but never have figured out why they aren't the same.

Re: Registration Fee$$$ Sounds like a good deal to me. In MD, we pay one fee if the car is over 50 y.o., so no yearly renewals. Still, $53 isn't bad. In a way it is like the electric company. You use no electricity, you still get a minimum bill, just for the privilege of having the electricity turned on.

My 28 pickup annual fee here in California is $89 , same for antique vehicle, and our wonderful government folks just voted in additional fees for next year according to vehicle tax value which will add another $50. California has the sixth largest budget in THE WORLD and boy are we paying for it!

Re: Registration Fee$$$ Michigan is nice to antique car owners. With antique plates you pay $35 and it is good for as long as you own the car. Doesn't get much better in a tax crazy world1

Re: Registration Fee$$$ In the state of Washington, I paid a fee for transferring the title and for the sales tax when I bought the car. After that, no annual registration fee on historic vehicle, but annual driving restrictions do apply. For instance, not supposed to be driving back and forth to work, stores of stuff like that.

They really are only five bucks, and only are issued for pre war cars and trucks, and are limited to club functions, etc. Sorry, for the confusion. I didn't mean collector plates, which, as you say, are twice the regular price, but for the life of ownership of your car. 52 pickup is doing great. Drove it to our daughter's house today for a visit. Everybody wants to buy it, but you are on the top of the list when the time comes, since it was yours in the first place.
