F1 front drums

I picked up a pair of original used front F1 drums. One looks like it has 0.010 of wear and one looks like 0.020 of wear. Assuming I can get them to clean up at 0.030 or 0.040 over and the wear limit is 0.060 over, would I have any reduction in braking due to larger drum size?

The drums are designed to met specifications to .060 oversize.

Most likely only if you changed the size of the brake shoes which provide the sq.in. of braking area.

A 52’ F1 stock restoration. I have new reproduction drums on it now but would like the originals if they will work just as good.

They will interchange. Turned drums and shoes are matched by arcing the shoe to match the drum. You will need to address this to ensure efficient braking.

Brake arcing is really important with Lockheed style brakes, but with Bendix brakes like the F1 it is not that big a deal and not normally done.

Thanks bud. It’s good to know it’s not needed, as I can’t find anybody around Atlanta that can do it anyway!
