Swap 97s to 94s 1 Attachment(s)
What is involved changing carbs as far as linkage and fuel lines?

Why would you want to? Bruce |
Re: Swap 97s to 94s Bruce it is just a thought. The 97s seem difficult to get dialled on on my 276. They are close now and I will probably be happy when they are just right. The 94s are said to meter better.

Re: Swap 97s to 94s I had a pair of 94's on my '47 for probably ten years and I thought I had them dialed in nice. They for the heck of it I put 97's on it. I wish I had swapped them years ago, it ran way better right off the bat.

Re: Swap 97s to 94s Can you hook the throttle arm to the passenger side of a 94 or do you have to use the other side?

Re: Swap 97s to 94s John,
IMHO Strombergs are easier to dial in. Occasionally a leaky Stromberg power valve will mess with you. As you know these power valves are a simple mechanical device......tiny spindle, seat and teeny spring. It's best to NEVER assume that your new fresh from the blister pack valve is good and certainly never trust a used valve. Each one should be checked for leak down before use....dialing in is then lots easier. Throttle arm on a Strom is above center on Ford 94 etc arm is below....... both operate on a rearward pull. With some minor linkage lengths one can fit up in the others place. Charlie ny |
Re: Swap 97s to 94s I'd be stickin' with the 97's.. If you cant get them right I doubt if you'll get the 94's right. My only gripe with 97's is the throttle position being forward of the 12 o'clock position and it has to pull back and down from there..

Re: Swap 97s to 94s I have a 97 on my model A Tudor banger and it has been trouble free for 10 years. I just need to keep after these until I get it. Thanks for the responses.
