Carburetor flow rating

Hi Guys,

This may be better suited for HAMB but Fordbarn has been my old friend for so many years and I think some of you may be able to help me out.

Modern carburetors are rated by their CFM rating on a flow bench. You can compare modern carbs readily but not so readily with old ones.

I have seen some info on Stromberg 94s & 97s but didn't file the info away and now don't know were to look.

Where do I look for a Zenith A carb, Zenith B, Tillotson, maybe some Winfields, Weber 32/36 progressive etc.

Info on what you use, what you prefer and why would be nice too. I run a Weber 32/36 progressive and like it but how does it compare with others.
I'd rather avoid multiple carbs. My Zenith B seems almost comparable.

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard, here is some info from Jim Brierley's book.
Stromberg is about 150, the Weber your are using is about the same. Stromberg 81 is 108.

Maybe Jim will chime in with more info. I thing in one of the FAST magazines they reported on CFMs for the Zenith A&B and Tillotson.

Good Luck

Thanks Herb.

That is just what I am looking for. I have Jim's book right here. I suppose I should read it again or better yet call Jim.

It would take me forever to reread all the FAST magazines. I am hoping someone can steer me to which issue for Zenith etc.

Richard
