Re: Pretty good car.... -sounds very familiar to me. one of Dad's friends had a '58 Cadillac (remember how huge those were?) and the passenger door would swing open when he drove into a gas station or otherwise banked the car over an uneven surface. The local Cadillac dealer put gobs of weld on the striker plate to try to remedy the problem, which was hilarious to witness.

Re: Pretty good car.... youngsters, Senator Claghorn was a character on the Fred Allen Show that was an exaggeration of a stereotyped politician from the South. Foghorn Leghorn on the Warner Bros. cartoons was apparently a spin-off from the Senator as their voices and mannerisms were similar.
