12 volt horn

I picked up a Klaxon 5 horn marked 12 volts. this one has the reverse flare. My question is which cars of the 20s era use 12 volts?

Re: 12 volt horn

Late friend of mine in Hershey had Model A horns labeled 12v & 6v. Asked how they 12. He said "do not sound good on 6".

Re: 12 volt horn

The large end of the horn is connected to the horn motor and the horn tapers smaller towards where the sound comes out.

Ken I am glad you asked what is a reverse flare and not why.

Re: 12 volt horn

I've seen plenty of horns with the "business" end smaller than at the motor end.
As for which cars were 12 volts in the 1920's - Dodge were and just about every non American car. Not sure about Chevrolet. I think Ford were about the last to go to 12v in the 50's.
