Flathead V8 machine shop in Texas
 

Guys,

I am am new to the forum and new to flatheads. I am looking for a good shop in Texas to perform the machine work on a flathead out of a 1951 F1 I just purchased. The truck is completely stock and I plan on keeping it as close to that as possible.

I can do the disassembly and assembly. I just need a good machine shop. Preferably one that has been working on flatheads since this one was new!

There is bound to be a good shop up there somewhere. The forum boss, Ryan, lives up that way. Some of the HAMB guys up that way may know better than I do. I'm sure a few more Austin folks check in here too. The shop I used to use here in SA closed down quite a while ago so I haven't tried any others yet.

Automotive Engine Services, Nacogdoches, Texas, 936 569 1164, Michael Pinkston. They have done two engines for me. Very pleased.

If you want to e closer to home, I used Parks Engine Service, Seguin TX. Rick Pridgen, the owner loves flatheads and has rebuilt a bunch of them. 830-379-4562. Good luck!

I'm also looking for a reputable shop in Texas. I'm near Dallas, but willing to drive as needed. Do any of the above shops have experience with babbitt motors?

I want to revive this thread as I've just completed the tear down. Tinkers doesn't seem to have a working number. May be closed? Any other suggestions in DFW?

I remember seeing Rex Rod & Chassis and reference to flathead work. Martin Bros Lane, Johnson City, Tx. I believe he's Vern Tardel's brother.

Thanks for the input Tony. I believe I've settled on a shop two hours outside of Dallas/Fort Worth (hoping to swing by this week). It's unfortunate many of the shops that worked on these motors have gone out of business.
