49 hood ornament

Original plastic piece broke off and was held in by friction. New one is loose. Do I glue it in?

I used a dab of silicone on mine. That will hold it but you can also get it apart if the need arises. Good luck!

Here is a picture of the clear trim on the hood ornament for your 1949 Ford that has come loose. Hope you have success in making your replacement secure.

I think that a lot of people assume that the Hood Ornaments on 1949 and 1950 Fords are identical, but they are not. Here is a comparison picture of the 1949 and 1950 Ford Hood Ornaments.

Use a dab of some E-6000. It will stay in place with no worries. It's an epoxy glue you can get at hardware or auto parts stores.

I know they are not exactly the same but they are very similar of how they fit into the chrome hood ornament. I have used silicone on both 49s and 50s.
