Re: Carb identify

It is a marvel scheibler sold by western auto, sears, etc back in the aftermarket replacement days. Decent carbs but not typically any parts available for them .

I’ve been told Ford sold these too as replacements before the Tillotsons

A very good carburetor in my opinion. I have one on my car and I like it better in all respects over the Zenith.

Just bought a Marvel, should be here fairly soon. Is it a direct swap for a Zenith? Gas line, GAV/Choke rod, Throttle rod all line up and correct length?

The Marvel carburetor was a popular replacement carburetor for the model A and was a direct replacement part .

The gas line must be adjusted a little. I made up a new gas line from a length of hydraulic brake line. The GAV and throttle are OK.

Re: Carb identify

The only problem according to Jim Bullock is there are no replacement floats available.

I do not have the knowledge/tools to do that, would prefer to purchase. Anyone know where I can purchase a Fuel Line for a Marvel for a late 30 CCPU (glass fuel Strainer bowl)?

Re: Carb identify

Thanks for the help all, I finally found the info, different line not needed just needs reforming., but need an adapter fitting where the gas line fits to the Marvel.

Re: Carb identify

The fitting from the gas line to the carburetor fuel inlet is a little different from either Zenith or Tillotson.

Attached are photos from the 1948 Sears catalog showing the carburetor and the price for the core Zenith that they want in exchange. Not sure what they did with the Zeniths that they got as they don't seem to be selling them in the catalog.

Re: Carb identify

bought the carb from Jim Bullock, so emailed him, was amazed when I got a reply today/Sunday. His carbs are already set up to be a direct swap for teh Zenith. So no special gas line fitting or GAV Needle driver required - plug and play.

Re: Carb identify

Marvel-Scheibler is a good carb company.
They were used for many decades for light aircraft applications.
I don't see Tillys or Zeniths flying around...just saying :)

I'm using a 1932 Zenith (for Model B) right now, otherwise I would go for the M-S.
