Where does the horn wire connect on a 1950 Ford steering wheel. Lots of pics of the front of the wheel but have not found anything on the back side.

I believe the wire goes to the horn ring.

Perhaps a picture of the column end under the horn ring would help.
Don't know how the Ford is configured but on Mercury the grounding wire is connected to an insulated ring in the column that the horn ring makes contact with to activate the horn.

So, on the previous generation, the wire was connected to the horn ring with a screw and there was an insulation pad around the triangular piece shown in the first picture. Perhaps the 50s are similar.

Thanks guys. This is going on an F1 steering box and tube. I didn't know if I was missing some parts that the horn wire attached to. I'm not seeing any place on the horn ring to attach the wire and there is not a place on the inside of the wheel that looks like an attachment spot.

The wire would have to be connected to an un-grounded component that is insulated from the rest of the assembly until grounded by the ring.

I'm confused. The F1 horn configuration is completely different from the car version. Are you intending to use the car ring/button on a truck column?

Since the wire still comes up the column shaft on a '50, you can run a '49-'50 wire up the F-1 shaft. Wonder why your horn ring does not not have a obvious screw to hook it to like in Joe's post; could it be hidden behind a different version of the insulated contact piece. You are also missing the foam rubber ring around the contact.

Here is the underside of mine. No evidence of a missing connector. Yes, I knew I was missing the foam insulator. Usually you can see where the wire was connected, but not finding it on this one.

Yes, I knew it was different than the F1 and yes I want to use the 1950 wheel on the F1 column. As was stated, the wire for both the F! and the 1950 run up the shaft, so was not anticipating this kind of problem.

Kinda of an anomaly, ain't it. Maybe just slip a ring terminal under the contact plate at one of the screws.
