Carb Screen

Anyone know if there is any problem running Zenith carb with the inside filter screen removed? Just screen removed threaded fitting installed.

I can’t imagine why you would not use the screen, but if your tank is clean, it won’t hurt anything leaving it out.

Re: Carb Screen

I had an issue recently where the threads on the filter part were stripped, so I briefly ran the car with just a standard bolt in there to plug the hole. Worked fine. Leaked a little out of the threads, but that was expected.

Just make sure your fuel line does not touch the screen. It will block flow.

If you haven't done so I would suggest installing the pencil filter in the tank and
remove the filter at the carb, in my opinion there is better fuel flow without it.

While it is true that every filter will reduce the flow of fuel a little, I have both filters in my latest car and it does not want for fuel at 55 mph. I cannot see that it would starve at higher speed either.
I concur with those who have said that the car will run fine without the filter in the carburettor but I'd replace it as soon as convenient.

I wouldn't want my car to burn fuel any faster than it does with the filters in place.

. No problem at all so long as no crud is reaching the carb.
