1936 vs 1939 Transmission In the continuing saga of installing an 8ba into a 1936 coupe
I would appreciate comments regarding upgrading the transmission to a 39 model. Are there significant benefits to the 39 over the 36? Thanks for all the help. |
Re: 1936 vs 1939 Transmission Synchromesh is greatly improved. The later gears can be installed in the early cases, but the '39 forks must be used. Do not try to modify the earlier forks.
You can use your '36 motor mounts with the later cases, but the '37 & later mounts offer more stability. For this conversion, you'll need to weld the later frame mounts, and modify the later tranny mount to accept the hand brake. |
