shift lever
 

I am trying to put the shifter lever back in the trany box of my 239 flathead and I can't get the lever to lock in with out being able to twist.
dose anyone have a diagram of how it fits

What kind of transmission- year and make also.

You may be missing the little 1/4" dia. pin that fits into the top of shift housing and into slot in rounded pivot part of shift lever.

Note: sometimes these pins fall down inside the gear box when the lever is removed. They can be tough to fish out and if left in the box they can distroy some gears.

its the original 3 speed on the floor for 1950 flathead

missing pin, 1/4" by about 1/2" long-take a magnet and fish around in the trans box, you may have to drain the oil out and work from the bottom-be sure you have removed it before using the trans or you might have a really big problem!
