39 coupe headers

Hi Gents

My 39 has a later 239 and dual exhaust. I’m thinking about buying reds headers. I have couple questions.

First I should say I have a friend with a lift, so car will be up.

How tough a job is it to replace the manifolds with headers?
Will I require additional piping? Or will it connect right up?

I bought Red's headers and Smithy mufflers to make duals. Headers fit perfectly

I put Red's headers on my 39 std. but i also bought the extension pipes and mufflers with them. Fairly easy job with a lift. I used the middle sized Brockman mellowtone muffler and love the sound.

I think the hardest part will be changing manifolds. If there is nothing wrong with your current system I wouldn't change it.

Just make sure the clutch pedal has full travel. Newc

Re: 39 coupe headers

Thank you all.

My main concern is will the headers connect up to existing pipes? Or will I need to fab new ones.

Re: 39 coupe headers

I doubt if the original pipes will connect to the new headers. You will need to fab new pipes.

Reds can provide a complete system if you ask 'em.
