before sending a radio, that works, out for repair look at the antenna make sure it is in good condition and grounded properly then tune the antenna to the radio.

Also check to see if car has the extra condensers installed. You should have one on generator, voltage reg, and oil sender to prevent static.That is what I've seen for my 39. There may be more.

Got my 40 radio modified so it gets AM, FM but more importantly has a thumb drive that I use exclusively. Constant music with no static. Downloaded MP3 from the net. Went to a guy in Florida. He can do 6v or 12v. Not cheap though. Radio will be stripped except for the tuner and converted to solid state. I went with the Aurora conversion and larger speakers under the front seat. Sounds great, still on 6 volts positive with a 12V negative tap for 12 v accessories. The old original radios were not very good and tons of static.

there is a jillion radio thread here, just search "radio fordbarn" at google and you'll know it all. i want the aurora conversion myself, maybe a late christmas present from me to me

if you are having connection problems but you radio actually is operating.
this worked great for my glovebox radio connectivity.

I also purchase a tiny player that also is an fm radio
I can play 1930;s music in rather than listen to Lady Gagga

Tune it to the antenna--- usually near where the antenna wire goes in is a small adjustment screw in a hole--- antenna trimmer capacitor--- makes all the difference in reception-- I forget if best at low end or higher end of dial, start with weak station and adjust to best reception

Try Joe at Classic Auto Electric. He converted my 1940 Zenith to am/fm and it sounds great.
