Got this from a friend's barn today. It was made using a Model A transmission and rearend. Doesn't run, but I will be working on it soon.

That is neat, and it has reverse! You can 'drive' it where you need to start tilling.

Neat find. Is that a Wisconsin or B&S engine? Reminds me of a '40's or 50's Graveley tractor I found at an old local lumber yard as I was working in the depths of the building installing some plumbing. I went and talked to the 90+ year old owner and inquired about a possible sale, and he said he forgot he had bought it and "No" he may need it some day! This had sat there since new, indoors, dry and looked like new. Kinda like some of the Model A stories we hear about sometime when a car is found and "NoSale" "I want to restore it someday".

That is really done nicely. Wonder if it was some kind of kit. That don't look like any homemade one I have ever seen.

yea either the origonal creator had some good fabrication skills/patience/tools or this was a kit you supplied certian parts for.

Yes it is amazing well put together very sturdy/solid. The Gentlemen(just turned 100 in January!!!) that gave it to me said that the fabricator made a few of these and sold them back in the day. The motor was made by the Lauson Co. in New Holstein WI. I've never heard of this make?

Lauson is a very quality engine with an oil pump and insert rod bearings. My motorbike was built with a 1.1 H.P. Lauson. About 15 years ago it took me about a dozen flywheel removals and points cleaning before it finally ran great, but has been going strong since then.

My dad traded a "tractor" that looked somewhat like that for our 1919 T in the mid 50's.
After the T was restored, he was offered a new Ford Hard top convertible as an even trade by a local dealer.:eek:

He didn't do it and at the time I was unhappy:mad: but today I know that "Father knew best":)

When I was a kid I had a couple of Lauson air cooled outboard motors. Don't remember much about them though.
