Finding Correct Size Battery Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I can locate a model A battery that is similar to original size? Most of the locally sourced batteries are too small and the two end caps will not tighten down correctly due to the smaller battery dimensions.

Re: Finding Correct Size Battery 6 Volt = Group 1
12 Volt = Group 25 |
Re: Finding Correct Size Battery Any parts store should have one. It's a Group 1.
Paul in CT NAPA got me one in about 6 hrs from their warehouse. |
Re: Finding Correct Size Battery For Stock all you need is a group 1 top terminal battery. Most auto supplies, farm stores will have them. Just to be sure, Model A 6 volts are positive ground. Are you looking for 12 volt negative ground? Without knowing your location, would be hard to suggest somewhere to look.

Re: Finding Correct Size Battery If looking for a 6V, most Tractor Supply stores I've been in had one on the shelf.

Re: Finding Correct Size Battery Check suppliers for a hold down bracket besides these two little holders. The top will secure the group one battery, most A suppliers have them, attaches to existing battery tray.
|
Re: Finding Correct Size Battery Folks. I do appreciate your input all. I am well aware of the batteries from the suppliers put forth in this discussion. Indeed, I have all of them in my area. However, none of these batteries are of the correct physical dimensions compared to original and the edge hold down clamps. The batteries are just not wide enough. I am also aware that one could use the early one piece square hold down clamp,,, but it would not be correct for the 30/31 vehicles. That being said, I thank all who have responded. I will continue my search for a suitable solution.

Re: Finding Correct Size Battery When you say original, do you mean script original style or battery that is currently installed?
Corner brackets; https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/P...earchByKeyword Go down the chart in this link, it shows sizes for 6 volt 3 cell batteries; https://www.batteryequivalents.com/b...ize-chart.html If you are going by the size now installed it may one of the others on the chart and not a group 1. |

Re: Finding Correct Size Battery Google- BatteryCentralMall.com They have classic car batteries. They have the Ford script batteries listed.
|
Re: Finding Correct Size Battery Most people here are more then likely not going to be using a script battery and you did ask for "model A battery that is similar to original size", so thank you for adding the script part. Have you tried googling Ford Model A script battery? I just did and found a number of them listed.

Re: Finding Correct Size Battery Antique Auto battery is now Jim's. I bought a battery from them...it's exactly like original with script and all but they are slow in making the battery....call them to be sure they meet YOUR needs.

Re: Finding Correct Size Battery Just a personal experience on small batteries: In the late 70’s all I could find (or afford) was a too-small 6v battery. I made a box from 1/2” ply and placed the battery in that and installed it in the original battery hold frame. It was a food, firm fit. I don’t know if the wood was the cause, but that 3-yr warranteed battery lasted eight years.
