Reserve Oil Can 2 Attachment(s)
Guten Abend,
are there some pictures from the past, whether or how reserve oil tanks were attached in the engine compartment? Citroen had always installed a bracket for this. Dankeschoen for helpin'! |
Re: Reserve Oil Can Even the SM Citroen had a place for the oil can--- I don't know of American cars having them---but then Citroen kept the hand crank option into the 70s, it disappeared here soon after ww2---- perhaps it was because we had service stations on nearly every corner that sold oil and put it in

Re: Reserve Oil Can There's some pictures in our local city hall-- closed to public for now due to the covid19, in the 60s I remember 7 gas stations here, city of about 3000 at the time, 3 at one intersection-- a Gulf, Sunoco, and Sinclair, the other corner had a old time used car lot, there's only a shell of one of the stations, it's a pizza place, the other corners have a bank, McDonald's and drug store --- now there's only one gas station

There's always this:

Re: Reserve Oil Can 1 Attachment(s)
Here's a Ford oil can fitted to the bulkhead (firewall) of my 32 RHD Cabriolet
|
Re: Reserve Oil Can And there's this - oil, water and gas. Not in engine compartment and maybe seen more on Model T running board but occasionally on A.

Re: Reserve Oil Can 1 Attachment(s)
Here's a UK AA with what I assume is an original ( dealer fitted?) oil bracket. But no oil can has been on it for several decades!
|
Re: Reserve Oil Can If you can find the old small oil cans (with or without the Ford lettering logo) most Vendors sell a bracket you can mount anyplace in the engine compartment.

Re: Reserve Oil Can Maenners!
I thank you all for the many helpful tips. It is important for me to see the brackets at that time. I am now looking for oil cans accordingly. |
Re: Reserve Oil Can Werner, Snyder’s hat was. Sie suchen Teil Nr T-19528 Viel Glueck! Alfred

Re: Reserve Oil Can Hallo und guten Abend.
Yes, the part that Don Snyder offers is good (Dankeschön, Alfred!). But the shipping costs are extremely high, especially for small quantities. I am building it myself. Can someone please write down the dimensions? |

Werner: What size and shape oil can are you planning on mounting under your hood?
Here are some other examples of oil can brackets for various shapes and sizes of oil cans. I use them to hang/display oil cans on the walls of my petroliana room: ....for a round can: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1585969425 ....for a WWII German military oil can: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1585969425 ....for a 2 Ltr Texaco can: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1585969425 ....for a triangular Shell can: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...7&d=1585969423 ....or this different version for a triangle Shell can: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1585970857 ....for a triangular Gargoyle Mobiloil can: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1585969425 ....or here are a bunch more for mostly 2Ltr oil cans: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1585970857 .....and some other's again for 2Ltr oil cans: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1585970857 ...or you can just purchase (on eBay.fr) a new 2Ltr oil can support in France for a VeloSolex and just mount that under your hood somewhere: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1585968720 Hope that helps and gives you some ideas, Brad in Maryland |

Re: Reserve Oil Can I really like the triangle shell can/bracket, now I'm going to be looking for something along those lines.

Re: Reserve Oil Can Guten Abend alle zusammen!
Was fuer unglaubliche Schaetze! Dankeschoen! I only want to use original American oil cans. I'm going to put an old 1/4 gallon MMO can on the left frame spare in the engine compartment. I'm still looking for a small oil can with the 'Ford' script for the fire bulkhead. Like as shown on numbers 11, 9 and 6. Another big thank you for the stimulating pictures! |
Re: Reserve Oil Can Brad in Germany shows the Mobil/Gargoyle English can in the English round can holder. These were fitted to all English built A and AA vehicles the bracket bolted to the left
side of the cowl engine side. The oval can as the model B picture was fitted to the model Y also. Various oil companies made the round can also original fitment were marked with the "FORD" script . John in lockdown Suffolk County England . |
