Fuel Gauge Repair Success

I finally got around to repairing my fuel gauge. It would seep just a trace when the tank was over 3/4 full.

I got the metal tools from Mike's Afordable, along with the gasket kits and additional large brass gasket. The brass float also came from Mike's.

I followed the instructions in Les Andrews book and also searched previous threads here on the forum.

I used two lightly oiled large brass gaskets/washers under the outer ring..worked great...

This is a photobucket slide show.....I hope it works!

This other version has captions....I don't know why the first one doesn't...

I see you have the magnified lens that goes from left to right and was the last version of the 2 that were used, what year is your tank stamped, mine is mid May, Pluck notes that May was the last month for a magnified glass.

1955cj5,

Very nice slide show. Maybe Ryan could put a section at the top where instructional slide shows could be placed so it wouldn't be necessary to search the posts. Maybe you could add a narrative or captions and post it on YouTube.

Thanks for the comments....I wanted to post all the pictures and this is the only way without multiple posts...I did add captions but for some reason they are not on the slide show, but show up elsewhere on photobucket....maybe i need to reload it.....I'll try an edit...

My tank is an 01-21-29...

It didn't look like the lens had any magnification.....do you mean the oval viewing window?

This version has captions.....scroll or use arrows to advance...

Some of the captions are missing...I'll try to add them again....

Must be the the day for gauge repairs, replace a sunken cork float with an unsinkable float for Bert's. :-)
