wish I couold buy this one!

Figured I'd share this one. Looks like a nice survivor but I could be wrong?

http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/cto/3431144596.html

I have no connection to the car just saw it for sale by me and thought I'd share.

Wow looks like a really really nice car.

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

That gets me, when they go through the trouble of advertising and don't put a price on it. I don't bother to respond unless I know the price.

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

Really decent and I hope it stays that way. Wonder what the price is?

Funny how the instrument panel got so rusty. Must have been a lot of hand prints on it over the years. I've seen finger prints on bearing shells and they can't be removed. That's why it good to keep polished metal oiled and not touch it.

harleyjj 11-24-2012 02:42 PM

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

I called and the price seemed very reasonable I just dont have the funds right now unfortunately. I figured I'd pass it along in hopes of seeing it saved instead of hot rodded.

If someone on here is interested in it I am willing to go inspect it in person.

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

$6500 is what I was told when I called

Tom Wesenberg 11-24-2012 02:51 PM

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

That should go fast.
I've seen poorly fixed and painted A's go for almost twice that amount.
I hope a TRUE Model A person buys it and keeps it original.

the price is in the ad....

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

Yep price is in the ad.

I like how they say "NO RUST", but then if you look at the pictures, you see rust. This car has some rust on the inside- Gear shift, brake handle, instrument panel...

P.S.: True, but the cowl (where they usually rust, appears to be fine. JMO

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

It depends what part of the country you are as to rust comments. In Ca. that may be considered rust around here that's patina. It doesn't look rusted out which is good, just some oxidation.

Looks like it has a cellular / honeycomb radiator.

Looks like a solid old car... wish it were closer...

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

Ross- Does the word "rust" have different meaning in different parts of the country? Rust is rust. So, if someone says (in all caps no less), "NO RUST", I expect to see no rust. Patina is patina, and that is understandable. However, it is frustrating that people have a rusty car and claim "no rust" still. Is it just me??

Marco- Your Model A website is still one of the best.

eagle 11-24-2012 10:19 PM

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

I myself would also describe the car as "no rust", as far as the pictures show anyway. When it comes to an old car, "rust" means rust through.

To me, when it comes to old cars and "No Rust" I take that to mean no rust out or holes caused by rust.

Did anyone get a photo they can post? The listing is closed now. Just curious

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

A couple folks are talking semantics over the word "rust" while someone wise was using his time to purchase the car! It will be interesting to see if someone here claims to be the new owner. It was on Craigslist for about eight hours.

It's only called rust if you are trying to buy it, and it's called patina if you are trying to sell, lol.

Do you mean the unrestored one? If so, will it stay as is?
or the one Vince posted?

The 29 Tudor "Bruce" is home now, traveled north to pick up and then returned late with car, (725 Miles) Dave unloaded this morning. Pulled both of his cars out for photos,

Re: wish I couold buy this one!

You have heard the song " Count your blessing, name them one by One" well we have sang that and a new one!!
"Count your wheels, name them one by one"

It started, pickup truck jerked, once, twice, three times, moving left and right and then, smooth again. Looked in rear side mirror and saw one tire coming to a stop in slow lane. On the brakes now and off to side of road. ( over a dead deer in peices ) I told Dave we lost one of his trailer tires. Dave and I jumped out to see which tire had came off trailer, he said everything fine on his side. I yelled back that all tires good on my side. I then said we lost trailer spare tire, he said no it was in trailer. ( I looked to make sure, it was in trailer). Mean while cars slowing and moving into fast lane to avoid the tire back about 1/2 mile from us. He said you must have ran over a tire in the road. I told him I did not run over that tire I would have seen it in road, now cars slowing to avoid the tire. Then we discussed the missing tire, if all were on trailer, spare in trailer, all wheels on truck, where did it come from, THEN I looked under my truck, SPARE is gone!! I took off running south towards tire as I thought if someone hits that tire it will come sailing towards me at rocket speed, ( now I know I can run at least 1/2 mile ) Cars are now stopping in slow lane and trying to merge into fast lane as I get close to tire, slow lane now stopped with people in fast lane flying by not knowing why people are stopped. Finally got to tire and picked up tire and small steel tire carrier support. Out of harms way now and walking my tire along highway back to truck. Got to truck and loaded, got down under truck and the cable that supported the tire was broke, this let tire drop to road. It could have been very bad if tire had jacked up my truck and we lost control(going 65MPH), or wedged under trailer, tire crossed road and hit someone, the list goes on and on. I now like the old design of a hanger with support under tire and a 3/4" bolt and nut. I used to complain about how hard it was to lower but at least they lasted for years and years. My F250 is a 2000 with 220,000 miles, looks like the tire hides the salt when you spray off or even driving in rain it does not wash this area above tire.

Great story with happy endings, Model A safely to a good home, and the spare tire episode could've been worse. The underside of your truck looks like ones we see out here in the Noth Atlantic.:).
