Nice! You know, if the mechanicals are ok, I would leave it just as it is! Best wishes.

From here, it looks pretty solid. Best of luck with it, whether you restore it or leave it the way it is. As long as the mechanicals are good.

My thoughts exactly. My new bride loves my 1930 Fordor and was with me when I bought it a month ago. I consider myself a very, very lucky man.

I don't see any original paint, so go ahead and restore it if you want. Just don't put a 350 in that nice of Model "A", please.
MIKE :)

I believe you have a couple of keepers there! The tie is another matter, though. (Just yankin' your crank! LOL) Best wishes for the future!

It's nice Real solid one coat of paint other than the original. Mechanically is good I have just installed all new wiring harness and engine gaskets .. We have put 500 miles on it since we got it home. I like it the way it is. If I was to ever do anything to it, I have a 1937 flat head that's all rebuilt. But the banger does fine the way it is.. Could use a radiator. Little crusty. And the wife insisted on us having it there at the wedding. She helped me string the new harness today ..

Nice find. Where in MN did the car come from? Are you sure you don't want to turn it into a "cozy cab" like this one?

The V-8 60 doesn't do very well, even with a 4.11 rear axle, in the Model A. I'd ask around before you do that. There is a V-8 60 '30 pickup in a local club. The owner was very disappointed when he made the change.

A good strong motor w/high comp head/touring cam, 3;54's and a Mitchell OD move my little coupe along nicely.

Are you guys t-t-t-twins?? From the looks of the Chattanooga shoe shine, I suspect it's the L/H guy gettin' hitched.;)
You, my man are pathetic, stringin' wires! You sposed' to be on a honeymoon, you got an easy 50 years ahead to string wires.
Seriously, I wish you both the very, very, best.:D
I had my honey, Pat, for a marvelous 55 1/2 years before she passed away on her birthday, this June. She's whole & perfect now, WHAT A BIRTHDAY PRESENT SHE RECEIVED!! Bill W.

I second Gars comment on the V8-60. I've driven a few in Model A's... and you will find that a stock Model A will walk away from a V8-60 anyday. They are underpowered and the Model A engine has much more torque, despite the horsepower difference.
Just my experience.

Hi,
I wish you the best. Enjoy your Model A.
I hope the bride has not ruined the wedding-dress as she sits on the rusty-red fender.:p
Greetings from Switzerland

Re: my new model a coupe

H-R-H,

Congratulations on your marriage - I wish you many years of love & happiness.

Congratulations on the coupe too... keep the 4-banger...

I've been driving my unrestored, 88,000 mile '28 Special Coupe for the last three years / 8,000 miles, and it gets along just fine even on a tired motor...

The V-8 60 is a neat look in an A, but some old timers have told me the same thing as the others here in this thread - it's underpowered and underwhelming.

From what I've learned here, a higher compression head (5.5:1) is the single biggest driveability improvement one can make to an A, just make sure your babbit is good and bearings are adjusted properly before boosting the CR.

The next best improvements are enlarging the bore of the stock intake and performance-tuning the stock Zenith, or running the Webber 2-bbl down draft.

Enjoy your car and keep in touch here !

Regards,

SC Frank

I mirror Gars comments on the v8 60. I've driven several with a 60. They were all underpowered, low on acceleration and torque. You will find a good stock healthy Model A engine has more power and speed, and torque than the V860 anyday.

Yea I'm in agreement with you guys. I'm keeping the 4 banger. I put a head gasket in it today and a water pump. Sure runs a lot better and cooler. Me and the wife took it out for ice cream... Ended up talking to three different guys .. This car is pretty popular around here.. I like that its not restored or fixed up... It's an eye catcher and its safe to drive the way it is.. Been ordering alot of stuff from macs auto.. There parts are okay I guess. Had a few snags but she's back up and on the road

I just saw that building with all the signs on it last weekend when I was in Waverly, MN for a wedding. I didn't see the Model A though.
Out that way, there was a barn fresh Model A Sedan for sale along side the road.
I didn't have my camera along to any pictures.
