While rear bumpers were not "original", mine has one on it now. (Avitar was taken BB)

Do a search, there are several threads on the subject that I read up on before installing mine.

I have a 29 and I installed a full length rear 29 bumper. All pickups (not only Model A's) should have a trailer hitch. The only problem that I have is that if you have one that is not a 1 1/4 or 2 inch receiver type it will stick out and you cannot lower the tailgate all the way. This year I want to replace my old one with a 1 1/4 inch receiver.

I'm not sure how to say this without it sounding bad, which is not my intent. The paragraph below the ad reads,

"The booklet once belonged to Mr. Emmett Francois of New Jersey, who shares this rare piece of Model A literature with us.

Model A pickups did not come with rear bumpers, nor were they a factory or dealer option to my knowledge. Some people have rigged up rear bumpers using car bumper mounts on their pickups. I am considering doing the same for mine when I get that far.

I have model A bumpers on the back of my 32 PU. it was less expensive than trying to find a 32 bumper.

I got some bar stock the matching width/thickness for the cut off rear bumper mount I had from a box of junk. I promptly welded up a bracket and used a cross member I had for my e28 open cab pickup. I didn't need to drill a hole in the frame either. I added a few stoplights as well.

Yes, I agree that it does look good. I also saw a rear bumper made by the owner back in the 30's in such a way that he had a storage tray below the bed.

Heres some pictures of the one I took off my truck (to much of a shin getter for me) I do have a box section cross piece that replaces the rear spreader that has a 2" reciever for my hitch.

Here's what I ended up with after researching the idea extensively. It's kinda hard to get the full scope of things with the PU parked in a somewhat congested garage. I opted for a full bumper (same as the front) and eventually will put a 1-1/4" receiver that is flush with the bumper. This is positioned so that the taligate will fold straight down. Brackets used to mount it were the same as for a coupe, extended 6".

When I first changed over to Hagerty insurance years ago,I sent the pictures they asked for.Then they asked for one more,when they saw it was a truck they wanted a picture of the rear.It was no problem but when I asked why I was told it was to verify there was no trailer hitch.Now this was over 15 years ago,and I think I've had 7 underwriters through them since.It could be completely different now.
