Re: found this today

I hope to hear from the people. I tryed to call the other day and talked to the old man and he did not remember owning any cars he is in his 90's. The cars belonged to his wifes family. I wrote her a letter telling her that I would like to look at the cars there are around 15 cars from the 30's through 40's. They just parked the cars when done with them. There is a 35 or 36 slantback that looks like a taco shell from a big tree that fell on it.

That Ford coupe needs a supercharged Oldsmobile engine.

Re: found this today

Getting a flathead. In the letter I wrote the lady I told her that I would be good to the car and make it as she remembers it.

Looks like a good project. I could really use that hood! Good luck with the find.

Re: found this today

I might know where a hood is. This car you cant see driving by. The place its on the only way to get to it is on a easment through a very big dairy.

I love finding cars like that. Then bringing them back, and putting them back on the road. Just started on a 41 barn find. It's a great feeling. Looks to be in pretty good shape. Good luck with it.

If it's a '38 deluxe or '39 standard hood in good shape I might be interested. I need one for my car badly. Let me know the details.

Re: found this today

39 Std in what looks like awfully good condition to have been setting outside. Next question is it a 60 or 90?

Re: found this today

dont know have not looked under the hood. I took the piscs from the neighbors. Its in prety good shape but there are some rust issues. The lower wuarter on the side you can see is rusted through I dont know about the other. The fenders are prety banged up but very fixable. No wheels and the rearend is laying on the ground half burried. Dont know what the inside looks like. Still a good car.

What color of blue would this have been Avon?

Looks like the roof has been flattened a bit, too.

bart78 02-07-2012 10:50 AM

Re: found this today

Yes it has. Most of the car is pretty solid but a few places are pretty bad.

Doesn't look too hopeless if you know what to do. :D Check out this thread on the HAMB:

Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!

Re: found this today

I don't think this car is that bad.

I agree, but it is amazing what some good metal work can do to bring a car back.:D

bart78 02-08-2012 09:23 AM

Re: found this today

Yes this car would look real good with some metal work and a few other things. I just hope I can save it from what is going to happen if I don't. These people don't care about the cars.

Bart, are we looking at maybe a 35/36 sedan and possibly a 41-48 sedan ? Just curious. Gettum while there hot, otherwise "mother earth will eat um"

bart78 02-10-2012 08:23 AM

Re: found this today

I could not tell what the sedans were I could not get a real good look at the fronts. I do know the one on the other side is a shoe box.

Re: found this today

Found a guy that has gotten some old tractors from the old guy. He said if I had to that he would take the cash and buy the car for me. Can anyone tell what the first sedan in the picture is? I could not tell from where I took the picture.

I wish there was still stuff like that here on the east coast, nothing but piles of rust for us to pick over!

Re: found this today

Tons here had a customer come into my office today and told me his cousin has some old cars on the back of his place. He said he called them ford coupes. He is going to set up a time for me to look at them.

36tbird 02-10-2012 06:09 PM

Re: found this today

I first thought it looked like a '35 or '36 slantback, but it has a straight bumper. Maybe a '37?

bart78 02-10-2012 06:38 PM

Re: found this today

I looked on the pic and blew it up and it looks to have a split rear window.

Rear bumper appears to be 1937.

Might be a good parts car for my coupe body.
