Finished my interior today, what ya think? 5 Attachment(s)
Hello all the 29 Tudor is getting close to being done. I guess? Finished my interior today this is a kit from Lee Chatterton it was a pretty good kit I guess I have never done anything like this before no upholstery work before so no LAUGHING!!! I know that it is not perfect but that is ok because my car is just a driver and it looks better now than when I got it so all I like is to paint the wheels and put on my new tires and I will be ready for some fun I promised the wife that the first thing we are going to do is drive out somewhere in the country for an old fashioned picnic just pull off somewhere under a big tree and enjoy life!! Because it just don't get any better than driving around in a FORD Model A!!!!! Thanks for looking and not laughing to much at the interior job! Robert DeBord See the pictures below of interior and the way I bought it and the way it looks now in my avatar picture.

Re: Finished my interior today, what ya think? Looks good! I'm just starting mine...just wondering, what did you find to be the hardest part of installing the interior kit?
|
Re: Finished my interior today, what ya think? Boy....too bad you live so far away..you did a great job!!

Re: Finished my interior today, what ya think? Hey Bud BC I think that the two upper rear corners were the hardest to do the kit does not have these finished just two pcs. of the cardboard panels and two pieces of fabric you have to cut and glue to fit, but my car I made all of my own wood bows and interior pieces so mine did not fit as well as if I had bought all the wood in kit form but I like to try and do all the work myself and try to save all the money I can for other things for the car. so I guess it worked out pretty good the rest was pretty easy just have to take your time. Thanks everybody for the nice words thanks Robert DeBord.

Re: Finished my interior today, what ya think? Reminds me of the first time I did an interior for my first 29 tudor. I made all the panels myself. Made all the seat covers as well, even the head liner. I used old army blankets. Sold the car 15 years ago, and the interior is still in it. I was so proud back then of that job. You should be too. Feels great to do things yourself. Good luck with it, and enjoy every mile you drive......

Re: Finished my interior today, what ya think? After forty years I have long forgotten how many cars I have upholstered. You did a fine job for a first time effort. Headliners always scared the bejesuz out of me but magically they all finished out very nicely just as your did. Now grab the better half the pic-nic basket complete with blanket and have a glorious day.;)

Re: Finished my interior today, what ya think? Hey everybody thanks for all the good comments I have worked very hard on this car even if it is just a driver someday I may build a judging car but for now me and the wife are going to have a lot of fun in this one for now! I said to pull over an have a picnic and enjoy "LIFE", 4 years ago I was 38 years old and was told that I had Cancer had a hard time then with all the treatments and operations but now at 42 I am Cancer free and enjoying LIFE so take Life by the horns and enjoy every minute and spend your time with the ones that you love and what you enjoy doing and never look back NO REGRETS! Thanks everybody you don't know how much it means to me to hear from all you guy's out there, thanks again Robert DeBord.

Re: Finished my interior today, what ya think? Robert,
I have been following your progress and you have done a remarkable job in a very short time. Anyone would be proud to be seen in that Model A. Stop by to visit if you're down this way. John Baxter |

Wow Robert. Good for you. Beating cancer, mastering upholstery and all at such a young age. Whats next? Painting? Body work? How are you at fixing rust. I have a beater pickup you can practice on. But you might be sorry if you took this on. Good luck on your A and have a good picnic. Mark.

Re: Finished my interior today, what ya think? Looks Great! The headliner is likely the most challenging and yours turned out nice.

Hi Mark (zz legend) I also did the body work(first time)also the car did not have a lot of rust two small places about 1" round holes where you would step on running boards easy fix also had to braze couple fender splits and rework the creases around fenders this was my first car that I have painted...OK I did have to get my Brother to help me shoot it again we sanded it down that night after I painted it and shot it again the next morning a very long weekend! Also put the top on and all the window glass myself The wife did help me put the cowl and fender welting in what a job! Did not rebuild the engine but did spruce it up a little I have had a great time with this car, Oh by the way I guess you never really "finish" with a car....started to put emergency brake rods on they were missing...not the only thing missing all the emergency brake parts in hub gone also so look out for some more posts! A very special thanks goes out to John Baxter Vick Varaday and Bob Wyrick of the Tennessee Smokey Mountain Model A Club for helping and showing me how to set points and timing and to Bob for showing and helping me rebuild my 2 tooth steering box...yes it is nice to have a 2 tooth on the 29! You all here on Fordbarn have been a great source of knowledge for a newbie like me!!!! Thanks again and a few more pictures, Robert DeBord.

Re: Finished my interior today, what ya think? Robert your sedan looks great. Nice engine detail and it looks like you started with a real decent car. Its good to see someone like you doing all the work yourself. I am sure you feel good about it and you took pictures that you can always look back on and show people the fruits of your labor. I am impressed. Good luck and enjoy it. Mark.
