Shock Rebuilders Who is rebuilding original shocks now? I need a pair for the rear of my old jalopy and I don't have any good cores. Don't really care about the year, as long as they are original Model A. Does Bert's in Denver still have someone who builds them? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Shock Rebuilders You might try Robert Paul in Colorado. He has been rebuilding shocks for many years and is very reasonable in price - $55 per shock I believe with core or $75 without a core.
|
Re: Shock Rebuilders I recommend Robert Paul in Colorado. Excellent service at a fair price.

Re: Shock Rebuilders I have not used Robert Paul's shocks yet, but will be sending him 31 cores in a couple of weeks. Hoping to get 2 rebuilt sets of early-mid 29 shocks back. He will need to inspect them and call me then will know if I did good or bad with the cores I have. Seemed like a very knowledgable and very pleasant person. Rod

Re: Shock Rebuilders M&S did mine a few years ago and at least 2 of them leaked. I would not recommend them.

Re: Shock Rebuilders Robert Paul is THE guy to deal with , nice and HONEST.

Re: Shock Rebuilders Robert Paul is who you want - I just received a set of shocks Robert rebuilt for me. Very personable gentleman and very honest and easy to work with. Be patient though. There are a lot of folks ahead of you and it will take from 8 to 12 weeks turn around time but you will receive top quality work. I provided 4 cores and he was able to rebuild 3 and I bought 1 outright. He made sure that the one he provided matched the 3 rebuildable ones. Total cost was $255 including shipping.

Re: Shock Rebuilders When we did the review of shocks we used Robert Paul to rebuild an original, liked it so much we ordered two complete sets.

Re: Shock Rebuilders I installed M&S's new after market shocks on my huckster over a year ago. So far so good.

Re: Shock Rebuilders I recently received a set of shocks from Robert Paul and am super satisfied. He did just what he said he would, they look great and the truck rides awesome with them on. Very high quality guy.

Re: Shock Rebuilders Robert Paul did mine about 3 years and 6K to 8K miles ago and they still work great.

I just got back from a 25 mile round trip and the car really rides rough without any rear shocks. |
Re: Shock Rebuilders If I purchase a set from Robert Paul, is it basically these here?

Re: Shock Rebuilders Model A Fan,
From my experience, Robert sells you the shocks only, not all of the hardware and links that are needed to install them. The ones I bought from him are rebuilt originals, not reproductions. I think you can do much better than $750 going this route, but it does take quite a while for his to arrive. Mine took about 6 months, which I was aware of when I ordered them. |
Re: Shock Rebuilders John Holland rebuilt a set for me and I am very satisfied. He matched all of the bases, covers, and pointers so they would fly in fine point.
