1936 Coupe on Craigslist. Just saw this listing in Chicago area. Price seems too good to be true, even has a Columbia.

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. That would be a holy grail car for me.
|
Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. Methinks if this is for real, the seller has little clue as to value. I'd want to be next to the car and the title, cash in hand... no other way would I make a deal on this car.

We will see how this plays out. It smells odd. However, it's only ten hours away. What else I gotta do? |

Sold on Bring a Trailer a couple of years ago for over $40K. Lots of pictures there.

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. have to admit the '36s always appealed to me.
and my research is that this car was never listed on BAT. or at least not in this condition. |
Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. Note the current Craigslist ad is using the same pictures, taken in the same field, as the old Bring A Trailer ad.

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. i'm sure whoever ends up with my cars after my plug's been pulled, will dump them ASAP for whatever they can get. i expect nothing less. :(

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is, but as far as the phone area code . That all went out the window with cell phones. I live in Mo. and my area code is still the same as when I lived in Olympia Washington.

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. A few years back I looked at a ‘42 Ford locally that was on Craigslist, later while searching all of Craigslist I saw the same pictures advertised in California by a different person. I contacted the local owner and told him someone stole his pictures and was probably trying to scam someone out west. As always buyer beware.

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. I had a similar situation where the seller gave me an address in Midlothian, IL. It appeared to be possibly an abandoned house. I had a friend in the truck that was armed. I have a feeling if I were alone, I might have gotten mugged.

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. If you look make sure the paper work matches the ID number on the frame. If you are taking cash also take a partner like Smith and Wesson with you.

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. A friend called and got a callback from Queen's Auto in Memphis. Said older guy in ill health was the owner and wife wanted to sell. They told him to come down and take a look. I would think Michael Driskell would be on it if it was legit.

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. ha, wife probably wanted that car off the property for years, probably a point of contention since the Regan administration, and now the old man's health's giving her the opportunity that she's been wishing for since the turn of the century. haha...man, getting old can be cruel. smh.
if the car's as good as it looks, i'd feel awfully guilty dickering over the price. i'd probably just pay what's being asked....and even then, i'd still feel a little guilty even being party to the transaction. but heck, the car, once on "the list" was a goner. |
Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. While if it is in TN I certainly do not have the means to purchase it as the last couple years I have been having to sell some of my cars.. However I encourage you guys to look through their inventory and the prices of the old cars they have a 37 cabriolet listed that is way underpriced. All the old car prices are too cheap to be true.

In my experience in another field, I regularly keep tabs on a certain market on Craigslist. It takes mere seconds to determine if an ad in my category is real or fake, by skimming the printed descriptions, comparing composition and writing skills, photos presented, methods of contacting the seller, similarities to other known scam ads, and legitimate ads hijacked and modified with added text. “They” post dozens every week, and don’t care if they get flagged and deleted, they simply re-post again and again. |

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. Don’t waste your time or efforts I called. The guy said it could be seen gave me the address then I told him I was local. He hung up on me. I drove over there. It is a dump and there is nothing there.

Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. The website is impressive, looks totally professional, looks legitimate. Wonder if the website was lifted off the internet like the photos of the cars were. Can that be done?
With that website, he will probably get some people to send money to "hold the car for me". |
Re: 1936 Coupe on Craigslist. In law enforcement there was a name for that type of scam and it was called JDLR. "Just Don't Look Right".
