Re: Bratton's Clearance

I personally do not care for Fed Ex, they have screwed so much stuff up that I ordered I avoid them at all cost:p In my opinion they are complete morons. They are 'contract workers' that way Fed Ex can work them cheap with no benefits so the people actually don't give a sh++.

UPS is Teamsters, union guys, they get good pay and benefits and it shows in their work, I have never had a single issue with them they are really good.

I have just received an offer from a Forum member to forward any items I want to me using him as an intermediary.
This forum just keeps on giving.

Didn't order.

Thanks for this post, completely lacking any context or relevancy.

Were you ordering lock washers or Mitchell overdrives?

Details make a difference.

That happened years ago when our government wanted the sender to pay the import duties before shipping.

Re: Bratton's Clearance

As a non related business owner, the cost for preparing products to ship combined with the actual shipping costs are terrible. Sometimes we all forget that someone has to be paid to process, pick, and pack the order. It takes time, and time costs a lot of money these days. We all need to plan our needs better or maybe shop with a club mate to split shipping costs.

Re: Bratton's Clearance

cleaning out the shelves makes total sense today.

on time ordering keeps cash in the vendors pocket so they can live to see another day.
I am watching the new owners of Coker tires and I think the profits arent what they expected. Coker rarely ran sales.

Re: Bratton's Clearance

I drove up to Brattons a week ago with a friend, nice drive and we always have a nice visit. I even brought someone there order back that lived close by, saved them shipping.
It's funny both Debbie and Jeff will say " let me get you a pallet" then it's here look at this stuff.
Well.....we managed to fill my truck up with good stuff, parts from the Dave Fraiser auction was some of it. Coming home we thought, we need to go back and get stuff we should have bought.
80% of the items I'll be bringing to Hershey.....remember my $10.00 wiring harnesses I got from a auction last year, I have something better to bring this year.
Go visit Brattons and carry some folding money with you.
Wick

Dang. I just checked FedEx's rates to have some Model A parts sent to me here in the US from both Iran and Afghanistan, and both locations were marked 'Not Served'?? :p:p
Guess I have to go there with cash and pick them up....

I agree 100%. The driver for fed ex that I have throws the packages over our porch rail onto the porch. I could have a glass lamp in the box, and this guy just doesn't give a damn. I've complained several times with no change.

Re: Bratton's Clearance

I have always had good luck with FedEx. I haven't shipped with them recently, but the shipping was very good when I did and the larger items were delivered in perfect condition, unlike the USPS on a few occasions.

Re: Bratton's Clearance

The last two items I bought came (ALMOST CAME) by Fedex. They both went to a company, the same one, even thought the package supposedly had my home address on it. Fedex said to contact the shippers who verified they put MY address on the packages. No more Fedex for me!

Re: Bratton's Clearance

I'd prefer them to use the USPS if it fits it ships boxes for set prices.
I ordered 15 items the most expensive $86. Shipping was $13.70 to CA.
Their message to me that it has shipped states -
FEDEX FLAT RATE PADDED PACK
So I don't have much confidence the gaskets will arrive in usable condition.

Tom you have that right..
Real quick, I was waiting for a pretty large check from a Bank in California, Bank of the West, to use to go buy an antique car that was about 700-800 miles from my house. It was sent by 'Fed Ex'?
I had to have the check on a Monday we were leaving to go get the car. I sat outside my door all day waiting for them it never showed up. When I'd check the tracking it kept saying 'Out for Delivery'.
PO'ed by this time I called the FedEx Dist, point that was 30 miles from my house. The lady was nice said 'let me check on that.... oh here it is. Jason has you marked as 'Owner Not Home.' I told her the story and she said 'Well, that doesn't surprise me. Jason does that all the time when he doesn't feel like driving out to a distant location he just puts down 'Owner Not Home' and brings back the packages. He has done that a lot.'
Not like the bloody Tom Hanks character in the movie 'Castaway' what a farce:p

Why and when they refused is irrelevant. Other vendors can do it, why not Brattons?

I tried to read the laws introduced at the time and couldn't understand it. That is what Brattons also said at the time. Feel free to try yourself.
I put in a complaint to the minister at the time responsible, that businesses were refusing to send here. The response was ... "that should not happen".

I don't know why they didn't. But we have Snyders through Henry's parts, and Brattons through Early Ford Parts, so I'll support the local Aussie retailer and let them deal with the import duties and transport costs.
