Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Like the title says- Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Would this be something worth doing? Would your club appreciate about a 30 minute seminar video showing every carburetor a Model A could have left the factory with, and the sometimes subtle differences?
Curious. Thank you. |

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? MAFCA members from the Dallas club did one several years ago, 'Carburetors and Carbohydrates' they have it on DVD I have a copy somewhere! It was pretty thorough.

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Anything that contributes to the history of the model A. should be fully supported and done if possible!!!

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? I would like to see this also.

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? I will second what Flathead said in Post #3. There must have bee some very interesting carburetors built for the Model A. I am thinking back to what was available for the Model T.

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Absolutely Paul, you do a great job and a valuable service to our hobby. Please include the Marvel Shembler too.

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Yes, for all the production differences, like a video judging standards instead of a written version.

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Very interesting, thanks to you and Steve for doing this.
I'd also be interested in seeing a video on the various period Model A aftermarket "improvements" and what they supposedly brought - Tillotson, Marvel, maybe even a discussion on the various downdrafts that have been used. I think this is what Flathead was suggesting in Post #3 above. I'd suggest focusing on what is commonly seen on the street, not the really hotrodded stuff. Weber, 97, 94, etc. Most folks who run these alternatives, at least those I've spoke with, swear by them. I did find this article online which I also thought was interesting. |
Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? That video is very interesting and full of good information. It is a welcomed addition to the printed info that is available.

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Thanks to Steve Schumach. Researching certainly took years.

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Very Interested. Also other videos to show at our meetings

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? What I don't understand is, why did Holley, and to a lesser extent Zenith, spend so much time faffing around with these cosmetic design changes? It must have cost money to make new masters for the molds. A few internal design changes were pointed out, but most of the iterations shown appear to be internally identical.
The changes in the side vent also don't make sense – isn't that something they could have tested internally to determine what size was optimal? |
Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Paul, aren’t you glad everyone said yes? I would hate to have that video wind up on the proverbial “cutting room floor”.:D

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Great vid Paul and Steve. This is the sort of information I like to learn about. I'll never have that many carbys, but all the minor differences was very interesting. Now I just have to go through my collection and sort what I have.

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Hi Paul,
i have the A-7112-S front transmissions seal kit and A-7111-S transmission seal kit here but have not had time and energy to put them in. What about a video on putting those in? Tom |

For the record, that video didn't do so well compared to others. The Fordbarn audience is obviously much different from the global audience. But that sorta makes sense because my core-target audience is someone who either does not yet own a Model A or just got one.

Re: Any interest in a video seminar showing every Model A carburetor? Rather than concentrate on authenticity, I prefer to have a video that describes in detail the function analyses, trouble symptoms, and repair / restoration techniques for the various Zenith carburetors. In my opinion, a video should also identify & debunk beliefs & practices that are totally false folklore about carburetors.
