Re: my first car... Good for you Kube, glad you still have the pic. I still have my first tow truck, a 55 Tonka, Ford of coarse. Sorry, no pics. It was still pretty nice until the fire of 2010, but I'll fix er up again some day

Here was my Brother (pictured) and my first. It was sitting along side a garage here in town under the eve of the roof...my Dad finally stopped and ultimately ended up with it...as you can see, it coincided with the "Edsel" faze of our Ford collecting history. In 2007 a local writer did a story on the Edsel and published this photo...a collector up in Ohio has it now (or at least back in 2007)!!!! My Dad sold it back in the mid to late 80's, would love to have it back!!!!

Re: my first car... My first car was a 1941 Mercury coupe, bought for $45. No pics to my regret, don't think I even owned a camera then. Pics of my current forthcoming, when I eventually get it out of the shop.

Re: my first car... My first car is my avatar 35 coupe. My dad said i could have it when i was 11. laid under that thing for about a month wire brushing and painting the frame. Stopped and started the project many times over the years. Finally "finished" 10 yrs ago, when i was 67.

This one is for sale on facebook marketplace in the Seattle area. I know it isn't good to lust after something, but.... It isn't cheap. What can you tell me about the sideways elongated V8 symbol? I have seen it before. I wish I had a photo of my first car, a pedal fire truck, second hand from a neighbor. My dad painted it with a brush.

Re: my first car... In the 1940's my older brother and I shared a pedal car that looked like that and used it a lot. It might have come used as I remember the paint finish being rather dull.. We had a cinder driveway so the traction was good. The way they built them then we never had to work on it. From that we upgraded to Tricycles then to 2-wheeler Roadmaster bicycles, which Dad taught us to take apart and reassemble. They got many coats of brushed-on paint as our choice of colors changed. My first car at age 15 was a beat-up ugly bath-tub '47 four-door Ford. Bought for $60 the rear gear was stripped and the radiator leaked. Friends help me fix it up and in early Junior High School times that car, packed with my friends, did numerous trips through the streets of the "Red Light' district in our city where the women hung-out the windows and waved to us. What a thrill.

Re: my first car... My first car was a1930 Model A fordor I got for graduation from high school in 1963 in Big Bear Lake, Ca. Drove it that summer but backed it downhill into a 3' diameter pine tree at 30 MPH as the brakes failed. I ended up in the back seat & when I pulled away from the tree the spare tire hubcap was stuck in the bark.
