These "what did you do today... " discussions are popular on other forums and provide a place to share something you did that may not warrant its own new topic. So feel free to share any little flathead V8 projects you worked on, found, started, finished or saw. We'll see where this goes. I'll start.

The fog light mounts on my '35 deluxe fordor were a bit cobbled together. I found a junk light at a flea market that had the clamp mount parts needed. So I was finally able to get them properly mounted :-)

I am Slowly putting this one together to go into a "restoration" project in Holland via a restoration shop in Poland. Started to assemble this past weekend and working on it night by night.

Attemped to start the 40 for pre Easter drive to the Kids House, Battery was low. Got it running, then had an ignition issue. Fixed the problem. Filled the tank with Premium. Put 150 miles on the car.
40 Really likes Premium Fuel.
Most of the Flat Head Comments were not repeatable,

My 40 coupe gas gauge registered near empty so I went to the non ethanol gas station 2 miles from my house and thought I would fill it up. Only took 3 gallons. Pulled the sender out and the brass "float" was full of gas! Replaced it with a new one I had on hand and now the gauge is correct!

I finally have my work space set up in my new shop here in Perry Mo. and my first project was to dismantle and rewire a very cool old art deco turn signal switch for 41 pickup. It has a teardrop shaped body made of painted pot metal . Me being me likes things that shine so I stripped and polished it to look like chrome. Tim

I drive a V8 almost daily. In the spring, summer and fall a V8 is my daily driver. Helped a guy track down a '34 cigar lighter also.

Made a beer run in my 40 convertible. It was 84 degrees here in central Alabama today. Been working on V12 Lincoln distributor conversion to V8. Also in the process of building two flatheads. One is a C69 block bored to 3 3/8 with 4 1/8 crankshaft with Kiwi L-100 cam for my 40 coupe. The other is an 8BA bored to 3 5/16 with Kiwi L-100 cam for a customer.

I finished refurbishing another original April 1936 and later generator cutout. The points were checked for alignment, dressed and gap adjusted. Air gap checked and closure voltage adjusted to 6.5 volts. Painted to resemble the original finish, then assembled with new insulators and hardware.

Been messing with the copper coolant pipes for my rear mounted rad on my speedster project for the last month and a half. Trying to make a mount/support using the fuel pump/breather tube for the copper pipes coming off of the heads.

In response to a Want Ad I spent at least 2 hours last night taking pictures of two disassembled 32 column "drops", then move the pictures to my computer to reorient them, then move the pictures to an email, then write an email with an accurate description of each drop. Well what else am I doing from 11 PM to 1 AM?

Got the interior out and most of the floor cleaned up on the 47 Coupe. Just going to wire brush it, replace body seam caulking, and POR it.
Replacing body mounts at the same time.

Re: What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

I got the '34 out of the barn yesterday after it's winter rest. It didn't want to wake up at first and was a bit cranky, LOL. A bit of gas down the carb and she perked right up! There was still a bit of residual salt on our roads here so I didn't go for a drive. I changed the oil and it rained quite a bit last night so maybe I'll put a few miles on it today.
Doug.

I was working on a local club member's generator. It had a threaded on, fan mount pulley. These are often tight and a bear to remove. Being a fan mount pulley, I was able to unscrew it using an old fan as a wrench with the armature in a padded vise and a little heat.
